The OSCE Mission to Moldova is currently implementing the extra budgetary project "Removal and Disposal of Chemical Hazardous Waste from Moldova” aimed to remove and dispose at the initial stage approximately 112 tons of hazardous and toxic chemicals in a technically safe and environmentally sound manner. On the Transdniestrian side of the Dniestr/Nistru River, old capacitors, unused since the 1990s, containing dangerous chemicals such as PCBs. The assessment recorded the presence of 2,194 capacitors. PCB oil weighs 43,740.00 kg, with total capacitors weighing 111,273.00 kg.
